Where and when

The Queensland Government does not promote Schoolies. However, as part of the Safer Schoolies Initiative, it supports a range of safety initiatives at the key Schoolies destinations. These initiatives are designed to enhance the safety and responsible behaviour of school-leavers, and to minimise disruption to the local communities.

More information on each Schoolies location is available at Airlie Beach, the Gold Coast, Magnetic Island and Yeppoon.

Each Safer Schoolies location has its own access requirements, but all require proof of student photo ID to take advantage of the free activities on offer. To find out more information visit the Access and Identification page.

Police, emergency services, security, volunteers and officials will maintain a highly visible presence, providing schoolies with medical assistance, general support and advice.

Schoolies-only areas supported by volunteers and emergency services will offer teenagers a place to relax and seek information, advice or assistance.

The Queensland Government has allocated funding to Red Frogs Australia to recruit more than 1200 volunteers to provide practical in-house support to schoolies. The Red Frogs' 24-hour hotline (1300 557 123) will also be available for schoolies to request a crew member walk them home safely, have pancakes cooked in their unit, or ask for help to mediate problems in schoolies' accommodation.

Free transport will also be available for legitimate schoolies between major accommodation venues and activities.

Respect the local community

While you're at Schoolies, you may be away from home, but you're living in someone else's community.

Schoolies locations are residential areas. This means the same community norms apply as when you live at home. No-one appreciates loud and unruly noise or behaviour, particularly late at night.

Respect and consider the local community. Many of these people have given up their time to volunteer during Schoolies to make the experience a safe one for you.

Tip: Have fun responsibly and consider others.
