Safety tips
- Don't drink and drive or get in the car with a drunk driver - you could lose your licence or your LIFE!
- Drink-spiking happens. Always buy your own drink and keep it with you.
- Drugs are illegal and dangerous. They may affect your health and safety, career and travel plans.
- Know your limits. Limit your drinks; know their strength; have water between drinks; eat something; and remember that only time will make you sober.
- Think before you drink. Underage drinking or possession of liquor in a public place can land you with a $300 on-the-spot fine. If you face court, you could end up with a $2500 fine.
- No means NO. Unwanted or forced sexual behaviour is a crime.
- Avoid violence. You have a choice! Walk away and avoid fights, or risk the physical, emotional and criminal consequences.
- Falls from high-rises are fatal. If you sit on or lean over balcony railings, or climb and hang off the wrong side of a balcony, you can lose your balance! And fall! Falls have resulted in serious injuries and death.
- Walk safely. Stay on the footpath, protect your feet, cross only at pedestrian crossings or traffic lights and be aware of traffic. Always walk with a friend or in a group.
- Don't think you can fake it. Possessing a fake ID is illegal and attracts a fine of up to $2500.
- Carry your ID! You will need to produce the right photo ID to prove you're a Year 12 school leaver (schoolie) to access coordinated activities.
- Keep your wristband on your wrist. Removing or sharing your official wristband will make it invalid.
- Toolies and foolies are not invited. Schoolies is for Year 12 students ONLY.
- Schoolies locations are residential areas. Respect and consider the local community.
- Think before you act. What you choose to do at Schoolies can last a lifetime.
